People Speaking Silently to Themselves Reflection

Martin Ball states that, “one can come to see the landscape as being filled with markers of the past, of
endurance through time, and of continuity and change. When considered through a cultural or religious
perspective, these features of local landscapes can shape fundamental qualities of a tradition.” This quote
shows how primal religions, compared to more modern and developed upon religions, value and rely on
the world directly around them. These primal religions often use surrounding landscapes to shape their
own myths and connections to the land itself, as well as the constituents and milieu of the environment.
